Working with Matt has been a very interesting, rewarding and often moving experience. I was challenged to look deeply into my life and was able to reveal to myself the answers that I was looking for which gave me confidence in my own judgement and intuition. Each session was conducted in a relaxed atmosphere and Matt gave me as much time as I needed to formulate my thoughts. I enjoyed having an informal plan of what I would like to discuss at each session which allowed us the space to take a detour if (and often when) something new emerged from our conversations. Knowing that Matt was non judgemental and was working from a place of love allowed me to be completely honest with myself and him and with his guidance I have gained valuable insights into my psyche which have allowed me to foster a stronger belief in my qualities and capabilities.

Absolutely wonderful. You were very easy to work with and very positive, and you kept me focused when I started to get off track with the problems we were discussing. I figured out something that was buried deep yet still effecting me to this day. You shone a light on an issue I’ve dealt with my whole life and helped me realise why, and where it came from, giving me perspective of that aspect of my personality. I don’t feel depressed or anxious going to my work anymore, because I now know – and most importantly, remember - what I am capable of. I have a clearer perspective of things going forward.

It was a very positive experience overall.  I really enjoyed the meditations in the beginning and the nice gentle personality that you have that created safety and trust.  Through the coaching I felt supported in a compassionate and insightful way to notice where the flow and ease was in where I create success with my work, and instead of working against it, work with it.  And the experience was very healing too, like I reconnected with accepting myself more for who I am, and I felt you could hold that space very well with kindness and insight. I really got a lot out of the experience. I was very focused before we started to create a strategic plan to launch my business, but it felt quite dry, forced and controlled from my side, and thanks to you Matt I was guided back to what is my natural strength: being creative, playful, and intuitive.  I gained confidence and conviction in that I can trust my intuitive creativity in combination with action, instead of getting strangled in overthinking, thanks to your guidance pointing this out, mirroring and validating my natural gifts.  For me the experience was very helpful to understand myself and to release the belief that my way of functioning "is not right or professional", I now trust that the best way for me is to create, take action and appreciate the guidance of my intuition. Overall the best outcome has been increased confidence and taking more action. I’ve had a lot of ease with work since I did the coaching and I thrive both in my business (with more clients) and also working in the gallery.

Matthew's coaching was crucial to some very important moments in my working life. I came to him with a vague idea of what I wanted to get out of his coaching but we ended up honing in on and working through very important decisions in my career and life. I would not have had anywhere near the same confidence or clarity in making those decisions and couldn't be more grateful. I found myself using the words and analogies we came up with over and over again in my working life. Mat has some special talents in the IT software development arena. He was largely responsible for re-organising our whole tribe (250+ people) at IBM into a more Agile-supporting framework for example. He also modernised our physical office space to create breakout areas and other facilities attractive to our talented younger workforce, who he was also coach & mentor to. His powers of creative and original thinking were highly valued by our senior leadership as they recognised how unusual and valuable they are. At the same time he is both an excellent project manager and people manager, having led teams of software developers on the one hand and document writers on the other, in both instances with originality, distinction and flair, the latter team supporting $500M+ of revenue in total.

I have worked with Mat in various capacities in the last 15 years. As my first manager at IBM, he was instrumental in helping me find my feet in a new team leader role, providing coaching in leadership, project/release/stakeholder management amongst other things. That role provided a solid foundation to progress from and shape my own career in the company. Mat remained an approachable and supportive colleague over the years, a sounding board to discuss and bounce ideas/challenges with. In recent years, he became our lab leader and successfully spear-headed an expansion programme to select and attract new graduates to the South Bank lab and provide a conducive environment for their development. He will also be remembered in the lab for successfully lobbying to get additional funding for a programme of infrastructure improvements (no mean feat) to make our lab a better collaborative space, and working with us to discuss how to implement that programme and successfully driving it to completion. In short, I’ll remember Mat as someone who has been a good mentor and advocate, and has helped my own career and the careers of many others at IBM, and someone pragmatic who can make things happen.

Mat is a great communicator with an open and direct style. He is committed to helping people achieve their potential. Mat helped me to prioritise effectively in a busy work environment. As a manager, he created a great team spirit and was always available with support and encouragement.
