Mat has some special talents in the IT software development arena. He was largely responsible for re-organising our whole tribe (250+ people) at IBM into a more Agile-supporting framework for example. He also modernised our physical office space to create breakout areas and other facilities attractive to our talented younger workforce, who he was also coach & mentor to. His powers of creative and original thinking were highly valued by our senior leadership as they recognised how unusual and valuable they are. At the same time he is both an excellent project manager and people manager, having led teams of software developers on the one hand and document writers on the other, in both instances with originality, distinction and flair, the latter team supporting $500M+ of revenue in total.
